Update 2- After the Meetup

For those of you who couldn't make it last night here's a quick breakdown of what happened, or at least the main points

  • 4 of us turned up (Abizer, Nik, Ron and Richy) and eventually found each other and after brief introductions we discussed Abizers experiences at the CocoaDevHouse Amesterdam.

  • Based on (or stolen from) those it seemed that a good format for the event would be an informal friday afternoon/evening for introductions, drinking and general chatting and discussion followed by a full day Saturday of coding and experimenting.

  • For the four of us that were there it appeared that a good date to aim for would be early Sept (perhaps the weekend of the 8th) although obviously we'll have to go with the majority vote on this.

  • Richy will be finding out more about the venue this weekend, although Simon from bitcartel software has pointed me at http://www.ideastore.co.uk/ which also seems a good option (especially for the hard core coding) - what does everyone think?

  • Richy will also look into t-shirts. Ideally we'll do something like having the cocoadevhouse London logo on the front and a bunch of company names (i.e. sponsors) on the back. So is anyone wishing to chip in a few quid to help sponsor them? I really don't think it'll be expensive (and think of the exposure!) I'll get back to you with full prices.

  • Abizer will be sorting out stickers.

  • Turns out Ron has an - and I quote - 'spare x-serve' we can use and probably most of the gear to set up the video stuff - given sufficient outbound bandwidth. Abizer and Nik have some server capacity to donate to streaming as well (I think they said that). Turns out Nik's is only RealVideo so not ideal

  • We had a few app ideas based mainly around music and diving (oddly)

Update 1- Meeting 02/08/2006

To kick things off a few of us will be meeting at the Crosse Keys, Bank on Weds 2nd August from about 6.30pm

This is really just a 'get to know each other' kind of event, all of the planning will be done on the wiki here for those of you who can't make it.

When?

*Update Main Wiki Page with date

Where?

  • Check out the space used for CocoaDevHouseAmsterdam. It looked great from Dallas. Abizer would know more about how it worked out. Or, a pub ;)

[I have approaced a London venue that would be happy to have us and can supply wi-fi, projectors, food etc. Although they'll need confirmation of our plans and dates. In the meantime they're happy to have us there for informal meets and so on. I'll confirm with them first before disclosing their name and whereabouts on the wiki - Rich]

Things To Do

  • Ensure local web access / bandwidth suitable for video streaming
  • SVN repository setup, ask TylerBallance, rtylerintel in #cocoadevhouse or ZacWhite, zacwhite (runs AudiPad, the open-source project started at CocoaDevHouseDallas. He hosts the SVN repository also.
  • Setup IRC for viewing external participant conversation
  • CDH London artwork available at http://hyperboledesign.com/cdhLondon.zip (Thanks Jake!)
  • T-shirts? Find sponsor, etc.
  • Assign video streaming to someone familiar with QT Broadcast, Abizer? know who setup A-dam video? (it was well done imo)
